I first heard of Emily McKnight from one of my best girlfriends from college. We were both single and struggled, navigating the dating scene after graduating. My friend purchased Emily’s “Masterclass: How-to Guide to Courtship,” and she shared it with me. I can remember listening intently to the teachings Em was sharing and taking notes in my journal. Some of the key takeaways I took from that Masterclass: 1) keep God first, 2) he has to be the one to lead (ask for your number, ask you on a date, plan the date, etc.) and, 3) set boundaries.

After taking the “How-to Guide to Courtship” Masterclass, I purchased and read Em’s book “The Don’t Before I Do.” This book is a MUST READ!!! I loved that Em was so vulnerable and shared so much of her story. Every chapter is summarized with “Lessons Learned,” and I found this very helpful and encouraging! I knew that I had to change the way I dated if I wanted to attract and find my future husband.

In March 2018, I went out with friends and posted a picture of myself on social media. Jameel, my now fiancé, liked the picture and sent me a direct message. We knew each other from high school and college, so the first couple of messages were us catching up. After the small talk was out of the way, he was very intentional! He immediately asked for my phone number and if I was dating anyone seriously. When I said I wasn’t, he asked me when he could take me on a date.

We went on our first date one week after he asked for my number! The first date was amazing, and he continued to pursue me heavily. One of the mistakes I used to make was spending the night at a guy’s house when they weren’t my boyfriend. One weekend when Jameel and I were dating, it was getting late, and I was very tempted to spend the night, but I knew I needed to do things differently if I wanted this to work. I remember leaving his house at midnight so that I wouldn’t break my promise to myself. Once we became an official couple, he told me that he remembered that night and how he respected me so much for sticking to my boundaries.

In April 2018, Jameel officially asked me to be his girlfriend and a little over a year later in June 2019, he recreated our first date and asked me to be his wife!

I recently lost my father at the end of September 2019, and it has been pretty tough. But Jameel has been by my side every step of the way, and I’m so grateful that God placed him in my life.

He’s caring, loving, patient, respectful and everything that God knew I needed in a future husband. Now, we’re planning our wedding that’s set for September 6, 2020, and I’m so excited to be his wife!

For anyone considering joining, signing up, or purchasing one of Emily’s programs but was on the fence right now, I would say: “What are you waiting for?!?”

Seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed every masterclass/IG live session I attended that Emily offered. I took away so much knowledge and you’ll come away from it feeling better equipped to handle whatever relationship situation you’re in.

Don’t be afraid to seek advice or knowledge from someone if you’re struggling in an area of your life. I understood that I wasn’t dating successfully and I am so grateful that I was introduced to Emily McKnight!

Thank you, Em, for your teachings and for sharing your story! You are a blessing to so many women and we appreciate you!!
